What to Consider when choosing a packing tape?
The Thickness, width, length and Print or colour of tapes depends on various factors. Below are few to help you evaluate.
- Weight of the package: Heavy products put more weight on the packages. Heavier the product, higher is the thickness of tape.
- Package Contents: Contents that shift within a package cause more stress; a wider tape should be preferred.
- Value of Package contents: If the package has valuable product/content then the wider tape should be used for safe delivery of package.
- Length/Width of Package: For smaller size packaged the width can be less, but for oversized package the width & thickness has to increase.
- Strength of Package: Outer package Nos of ply, bursting strength & paper Gsm are a decisive factor. Higher the box ply, tapes with high shear are suggested. Depending on the box surface the tack and peal strength of the tapes must be modified.
- Mode of Shipping: Whether the package is being shipped individually or in pallet? individual box tends to have more pressure then the palletized loads. Also, temperature while shipping the box must be monitored for choosing the right tape.
- Print/Color Matter: The purpose of branding must be considered, the bigger the matter the more visibility it will have.
